South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering has received a contract for the construction of two LNG carriers for unidentified American customers.

According to the company, the deal is worth KRW 446.5 billion (USD 376.8 million).

Scheduled to be delivered by September 2022, the LNG carriers are to have a capacity of 174,000 cbm each.

The shipbuilder added that the vessels would feature MAN B&W ME-GI dual-fuel, two-stroke, gas-injection engines and in-house full re-liquefaction systems (FRS).

The latest deals brought DSME’s orderbook to USD 4.27 billion this year. The company noted that it has achieved 51 percent of its annual target. The orders include nine LNG carriers, seven VLCCs, and four submarines.
