MOL Orders Third LNG Carrier

Japan’s Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) has placed an order for the third 165,000m3 LNG carrier labelled JMU 5073 with Japan Marine United. Mitsui has also concluded a basic agreement on joint ownership and 20-year charter contract for the newbuilding LNG carrier with Tokyo LNG Tanker Co., Ltd.

The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2018.

This is the third LNG carrier MOL will manage, with the first contracted with Tokyo LNG Tanker and JMU on February 28, and the second on November 28.

All three carriers will transport LNG from the Cove Point LNG Project in the United States to Tokyo Gas facilities.
