South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has won a shipbuilding contract for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier from a Greek shipowner.

Namely, DSME is to construct the new LNG carrier for John Angelicoussis’ shipping company Maran Gas Maritime, Yonhap News Agency said citing the shipbuilder.

The unit, which will feature 173,400 cbm, would be handed over to its owner by the first half of 2021.

Although the parties did not unveil the financial details of the contract, the Greek owner is believed to be paying around USD 180 million for the vessel.

With the latest order, DSME reached up to 85 percent of its shipbuilding contracts goal for 2018, as it secured around USD 6.22 billion worth of new orders.
