DSME Secures Contract for Two LNG Carriers

South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) has secured a contract to build two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.

The deal, which is the builder’s first newbuilding order in 2018, was placed by an undisclosed American shipowner on February 5, according to DSME’s stock exchange release.

The shipowner is paying KRW 394.1 billion (around USD 362.5 million) for the new carriers, which are scheduled for delivery by mid-June 2020.

DSME added that the delivery date might be changed according to the progress of the shipbuilding schedule.
