LPG Vessel Suffers Engine Failure in Bosphorus

An LPG vessel experienced engine failure near the maiden tower at the entrance of Bosphorus yesterday, GAC said.

The incident occurred during the vessel’s southbound transit at 02:35 P.M. local time on February 12.

The ship in question is the 4,248 dwt Golden Sea, AIS data from MarineTraffic shows.

A tugboat was sent to ensure safe navigation in the strait.

As informed, there was no suspension of traffic in the Bosphorus. The LPG vessel proceeded with its tugboat escort to an anchorage area south of the Bosphorus.

Built in 1989, Golden Sea was en route to Tripoli. The ship, previously named Blue Way, is operated by Turkish Milenyum Denizcilik, according to information provided by VesselsValue.
