Inspection of Fire-Stricken Car Carrier Begins

According to American Roll-on Roll-off Carrier (ARC), the ship’s owner, inspections of cargo on the unaffected decks (decks 4 – 12) will begin on Friday morning, March 3.
“Any possible cargo damage on the impacted decks (decks 1 – 3) will not be assessed until the authorities complete their investigation,” ARC said in an update.
The fire has been put out, there were no injuries to the crew, and the ship is operating under its own power.
The US-flagged ship has been ventilated and is currently berthed at the pier in Southampton, U.K.
ARC added that the current focus is on making sure the ship and crew are safe and on investigating the cause of incident.
