Greyman Express Kicks Off Australia-Cambodia Cattle Trade
Image Courtesy: VroonGreyman Express, a livestock carrier owned by the Dutch shipping company Vroon, has recently transported 2,760 head of Australian cattle to Sihanoukville, Cambodia.
This journey, completed in June, marked the start of a cattle trade between Australia and Cambodia and was the first delivery of beef cows from the Pacific nation since Phnom Penh and Canberra finalized health protocols two years ago.
The Singapore-flagged vessel is the sixth of seven livestock vessels in Vroon’s newbuilding program. Built at China’s Cosco Guangdong Shipyard, the vessel was delivered in April this year.
The 5,225 dwt vessel has been designed with a cargo capacity of approximately 4,600 sqm (around 4,000 head of cattle) and a cruising range of about 18,000 nautical miles.
The Greyman Express is fitted with animal-welfare facilities exceeding Australian (AMSA) regulations and incorporates a bow design which is said to ensure fuel savings while maintaining high speeds.
Following its delivery, the vessel entered into a period charter with Frontier International Agri, a subsidiary of Australian agricultural company Ruralco.
