The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) took delivery of one second-hand Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) purchased in October.

The ship in question is Blue Pearl and has been renamed to Kidan. The ship was purchased within a two-ship contract inked on October 27, 2015.

The second vessel, Blue Topaz, will be re-named to Weydan, and is scheduled for delivery to Bahri in January 2016.

The contract is worth a total of USD 157 million.

The VLCC duo was built in 2010 at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and is being bought from DSME’s shipowning arm DK Maritime.

The financial impact of both vessels is expected during the first quarter of 2016, Bahri said.
