Tasneef Lands Classification Deal

United Arab Emirates-based classification society Tasneef has signed a contract with Drydocks World to provide the classification and maritime surveying services to the Drydocks World’s fleet comprised of 11 ships.

Three ships have already been surveyed (Shindagha-5, Umm Suqeem and Zabeel-4). As for the rest of the fleet, it is scheduled to be subject to classification and surveying after confirming that it complies with all the classification rules, international regulations and UAE flag statutory requirements.

Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World, said: “This contract allows ship owners to receive the national classification which helps in raising the UAE flag high above, and increasing the carrying capacity of the ships contributing to enhancing the services in the national maritime sector, simultaneously, it ensures the success of Emirates Classification Society (TASNEEF) in becoming one of the world’s most prominent classification societies through providing high quality services.”

Tasneef will provide the fleet with services including classification, surveying and technical consulting, in addition to research and development services.

Rashed Al Hebsi, CEO of Tasneef, said:  “We will issue the compulsory certificates that conform to international standards required to guarantee the safety of the ship’s body and engine, the safety of the crew on board and the maritime environment as a whole, according to SOLAS (International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea) and MARPOL (International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships).”
