Rules for ‘Dangerous Chemical Substances’ Revised

The Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK) announced the release of an amendment, dated 30 May 2014, made to its Rules and Guidance for the Survey and Construction of Steel Ships.

ClassNK is constantly revising its Rules and Guidance in order to reflect requests from industry, the latest results from relevant research and development projects, feedback from damage investigations as well as changes made to relevant international conventions, IACS Unified Requirements, Japanese domestic law, etc.

This time, requirements related to “Dangerous Chemical Substances” (Rules for the Survey and Construction of Steel Ships Part S) were revised in order to reflect recent changes made to the International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Dangerous Chemicals in Bulk (IBC Code).
