Petronas Ships Its First LNG Cargo to Thailand

Malaysian oil and gas company Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) has delivered its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo aboard the LNG vessel Puteri Intan Satu to Thailand.

It arrived to the Map Ta Phut Terminal at Rayong on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand on July 20, 2017 from the Petronas LNG Complex in Bintulu, Sarawak.

Owned and operated by Petronas’ subsidiary MISC Berhad, the 75,800 dwt Puteri Intan Satu has a length of 276 meters and a width of 43 meters. The vessel was built in 2002 and features 94,430 gross tons.

The cargo was shipped under a long-term sale and purchase agreement (SPA) signed between Petronas LNG Ltd (PLL) and PTT Public Company Limited (PTT). PLL is set to deliver up to 1.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG to PTT for a period of 15 years.

“Petronas LNG has come a long way since our first LNG delivery in 1983. Today, we are delighted to witness another successful delivery at the start of a new long-term partnership with our neighbour PTT,” Ahmad Adly Alias, Petronas Vice President of LNG Marketing & Trading, said.

“Over the years, we have built our capacity to a combined 34 MTPA. The LNG under this SPA will be sourced globally from Petronas’ portfolio of supply,” he added.
