The 21,413 TEU OOCL Hong Kong, the world’s largest containership based on its advertised nominal container intake, made a maiden call at Wilhelmshaven on July 2, 2017.

Owned by Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), the 191,317 dwt ship arrived at Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven as part of Ocean Alliance’s LL1 service.

The LL1 is operated by 11 ships, 6 units of which are supplied by OOCL.

The boxship, which measures 400 meters in length and 58.8 meters in width, was constructed at Samsung Heavy Industries’ (SHI) shipyard in Geoje, South Korea and christened on May 12.

The second OOCL ship of the 20,000 TEU series is OOCL Germany, expected in Wilhelmshaven on October 14, 2017, according to JadeWeserPort Wilhelmshaven.
