Bulker Crewman Dies in Berthing Accident in Quebec
Image Courtesy: Onomichi DockyardThe Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has deployed a team of investigators to the Port of Trois-Rivières, Québec, following an accident involving the bulk carrier Nord Quebec in which one person died.
Local media reports say that a 38-year-old Filipino man working on Nord Quebec died when he was hit by a cable during a berthing maneuver at the port’s Dock 16 on Monday, May 22.
The accident occurred around 4:20 pm local time. The injured crewman was transported to a hospital soon after, where he was pronounced dead later that evening.
The 2013-built Nord Quebec sails under the flag of Singapore and is currently still at berth at the Port of Trois-Rivières. The 36,546 dwt Handysize is owned and managed by Norden Shipping (Singapore) Pte Ltd.
