Carnival Fantasy Passenger Medevaced off Louisiana

The United States Coast Guard medevaced a woman from the Carnival Fantasy cruise ship on May 2 while the vessel was some 40 nautical miles southeast of Southwest Pass, Louisiana.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a report at 6:20 am that a 53-year-old passenger was suffering from stroke-like symptoms aboard the cruise ship, operated by Miami-based cruise company Carnival Corporation.
A Coast Guard Air Station MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew was sent to the site, followed by a Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew.
The help arrived on scene at 9:04 am and hoisted the survivor and an accompanying nurse and transported both individuals to West Jefferson Hospital in Marrero, Louisiana.
USCG informed that the survivor was reported in stable condition.
