Norway’s shipping company Höegh Autoliners took delivery of Höegh Trotter, the firm’s sixth New Horizon Pure Car Truck Carrier (PCTC), in Xiamen, China, on December 8, 2016.
Höegh Trotter is the final Post-Panamax vessel to be delivered by Chinese shipbuilder Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry to Höegh Autoliners this year.
With a deck space of 71,400 square meters and a carrying capacity of 8,500 car equivalent units, the PCTC has a higher door opening than Höegh Autoliners’ current vessels, enabling cargo up to 6.5 meters high and 12 meters wide to be loaded.
Named in November 2016, the 75,717 gross ton Höegh Trotter features a length of 200 meters and a width of 36.5 meters.
Along with its sister vessels, Höegh Trigger, Höegh Tracer, Höegh Target, Höegh Trapper and Höegh Traveller, the PCTC is designed to minimize its impact on the environment. In addition to calm water performance, the ship features added resistance in heavy seas and wind resistance.
Höegh Trotter will sail in the East Asia to Europe trade on its maiden voyage and is thereafter planned to sail from Europe back to East Asia via Africa and Oceania, Höegh Autoliners said.
