Gener8 Maritime Adds Two More ECO VLCCs

US-based crude oil shipping company Gener8 Maritime has taken delivery of two ECO Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), the Gener8 Perseus and the Gener8 Oceanus, from South Korean shipbuilders.

The Gener8 Perseus was delivered to the company from Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) on September 9, 2016, and the Gener8 Oceanus from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI) on September 12.

Upon delivery, the two VLCCs entered Navig8 Group’s VL8 Pool.

The two vessels represent the fourteenth and fifteenth of 21 ECO VLCCs expected to join Gener8 Maritime’s fleet.

Four more VLCC newbuildings are scheduled for delivery in 2016, with two VLCCs expected to join the company in 2017.

As of September 12, 2016, Gener8 Maritime has a fleet of 43 wholly-owned vessels comprised of 26 VLCCs, including 6 newbuilding, 11 Suezmaxes, four Aframaxes, and two Panamax tankers.
