Wisdom Marine Orders Two Tankers in Japan

Taipei-based shipping company Wisdom Marine Lines has decided to enter the tanker shipping market as it ordered two new vessels in Japan, according to the company’s stock exchange filing.

Namely, the order for the new 115,000 dwt oil tankers, placed with Japanese shipbuilder Japan Marine United (JMU), is valued at around USD 100 million.

In a separate announcement, the company said that its Board of Directors approved the purchase of a 28,386 dwt bulk carrier from Tiger Gate Holding S.A.

Wisdom Marine agreed to pay a price of USD 25.2 million for the bulker.

The company operates a fleet of 109 vessels, including Handy, Panamax, Supramax, and Cape vessels, and has over 20 newbuildings on order at various yards.
