Revamped Oslofjord Christened

Fjord Line’s completely transformed cruise ferry MS Oslofjord was christened under its new name at the Sandefjord wharf, Norway.

The renovated ship will serve Fjord Line’s new Sandefjord to Strömstad, Sweden line.

”Erik Bye wrote and sang ”Today, it may be our best day”, and that may just be the case for Fjord Line today,” said Fjord Line CEO Ingvald Fardal.

“Starting this weekend, we can, for the first time, offer passengers service with modern ships on four different lines: Bergen – Stavanger – Hirtshals, Langesund Hirtshals – Kristiansand – Hirtshals, and now also Sandefjord – Strömstad.

We have invested heavily to make sure our guests have a great experience on board, while also providing the commercial sector with efficient and environmentally-friendly transport from port to port.”

MS Oslofjord takes up to 410 cars and 1,800 passengers.

The cruise ferry was built by Fosen shipyard in 1993, it is 134.5 meters long and 24 meters wide.

The design of the newly-built exterior and interior features was done by Falkum-Hansen Design, while the STX shipyard in Rauma, Finland carried out the renovation.

The crew counts 120 people in two shifts.
