South Korean shipbuilder and one of the world’s biggest, Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has set a new daily naming ceremony record.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Nikolas Lemos, Chairman of Enesel, Mr. Kim Oi-hyun, President & CEO of Hyundai Heavy Industries, as well as other 130 participants at HHI’s yard in Ulsan, South Korea.
The sponsors including Mrs. Irini N. Lemos, wife of Mr. Nikolas Lemos and four other ladies, named three 10,500TEU containerships and two 13,800TEU containerships for Enesel, a ship-management company based in Athens, Greece.
The large boxships are scheduled to be delivered from March 20 to early June this year.
Last year, HHI held 45 naming ceremonies for 55 ships. Hyundai Heavy Industries’ naming ceremony record stands at 12 ships per month and 10 ships per week set on October 2008 and June 2010 respectively.
