BMT Receives Royal Seal of Approval

BMT Defence Services Ltd (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, the leading international maritime design, engineering and risk management consultancy, received a royal seal of approval yesterday at its offices in Bath, recognising the company’s outstanding performance in export growth and contribution to overseas trade.

At an event hosted by Managing Director, Muir Macdonald, BMT was presented with the Queen’s Award for International Trade by Lady Gass, Lord Lieutenant of Somerset. “It truly is a great honour and proud moment for us to receive this prestigious business award. We have gone to great lengths to invest in fully developing strong international relationships and the significant growth in overseas contracts over the last 12 months has meant that our hard work is paying off. The knowledge transfer, skills and expertise we are gaining from our endeavours overseas help to enrich our experience for our UK customer base.” Muir Macdonald commented.

Drawing on its long history of customer-focussed delivery and innovative design, BMT has been successful in securing a number of overseas contracts in countries such as South Korea, Turkey and Australia. Its recent success with the Royal Navy’s MARS Tanker project and the Royal Norwegian Navy’s Logistics and Support Vessel contract has cemented the status of its AEGIR® family of ships as a winning design, demonstrating the very best of British innovation and ingenuity.

Muir Macdonald continues: “BMT is a successful design and engineering company that is winning contracts across the globe in the face of stiff international competition. It is smaller, more agile companies such as ours that play a critical part in helping the UK economy out of its recession. We advocate a robust economy founded on British know-how, intellectual property and people of immense talent - our AEGIR® family of ship designs allows us to do just that.”
