Drydocks World, the leading service provider in the maritime industry, has announced today the formation of the Dubai Council for Marine and Maritime Industries (DCMMI), a specialized non-profit trade and industry council to promote the interests of the marine and maritime industry in Dubai and the UAE.
DCMMI represents a wide cross-section of the UAE’s marine and maritime industry such as Offshore & Engineering, Ship Repair & Maintenance, Shipbuilding & Conversion, and Rig building, Chandlery and Yacht Services. The Council was launched under the auspices of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“We are privileged to begin this endeavor along with 14 other key contributors to the industry. This has been formed on the basis of an imminent need for a body that looks into the multifarious requirements of various companies and societies whose activities are directly linked to the maritime sector. The Council, which will offer membership to various relevant organizations, will address the pressing issues before the members and will further the development of the industry,” said Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World.
The sectors are represented by operators, ship owners, charterers, marine legal service providers, ship managers, brokers, P&I clubs, port operators, marine insurance companies, ship chandlers and yacht manufacture, maintenance and management companies. As well as most of the established local and international manufacturers and suppliers of marine and offshore components, it also represents marine and offshore engineering contractors and companies whose activities are directly related to the industry including classification societies and marine consultants.
