Salamis Lines to Expand Fleet with RoRo Ship

Cyprus-based shipping company Salamis Lines has signed an agreement to acquire a roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessel.

Salamis said the vessel has a gross capacity of 20,831 tons, without disclosing any further details.

The agreement is expected to be completed in April 2019 with the delivery of the ship, according to the company.

Media reports suggest that the vessel in question is the 20,831 gross ton Vikingland. Previously known as Aurora, the ship was built at Rauma Marine Construction in Finland in 1982, VesselsValue’s data shows.

The new unit will join the company’s two existing ships, the RoRo vessel Alexo and the containership Alasa.

The 21,195 gross ton Alexo was purchased by Salamis two years ago, replacing the RoRo vessel Alios. Alexo is servicing the route connecting Lavrio, Limassol and Haifa.
