India-based shipping company Great Eastern Shipping (G E Shipping) has expanded its fleet with the addition of a secondhand very large gas carrier (VLGC).

The vessel in question is the 83,270 cbm Jag Vasant, which the company had contracted to buy in the second quarter of fiscal year 2019.

The company currently has a fleet of 49 vessels, comprising 35 tankers and 14 dry bulk carriers with an average age of 10.9 years.

So far this year, G E Shipping made a number of vessel transactions, as the company reshuffled its fleet.

The company earlier sold two of its dry bulk vessels and reached agreements to purchase a number of secondhand gas carriers.
