Knutsen OAS Shipping has declared an option for the construction of a 180,000 cbm LNG carrier at Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), according to Asiasis.

Delivery and price details have not been disclosed.

The Norwegian shipowner already has two newbuilds on order at Hyundai, scheduled for delivery in 2019.

The two large LNG carriers were ordered in February 2017 and have a market value of USD 193 million each, based on the valuation data from VesselsValue.

The two 180,000 cbm LNG tanker newbuildings will feature MAN B&W 5G70ME-GI engines with EGR systems.

Upon delivery, the vessels will transport cargoes worldwide for two unnamed Spanish utility companies.

The Norwegian owner has 11 LNG carriers in its fleet.

The company is yet to provide World Maritime News with a comment on the report.
