MPC Container Ships Resumes Shopping Spree

Oslo-listed ship ower MPC Container Ships ASA continues its ambitious fleet buildup campaign with the addition of five new feeder containerships.

The latest fleet additions are being purchased from Simatech Shipping & Forwarding from Dubai, the operator and manager of the vessels.

The total purchase price for the vessels is USD 41.9 million and will be settled in cash, the company said.

The fleet consists of 2004-built Sima Pride, 2005-built Sima Perfect and Sima Prestige, 2006-built Sima Sapphire and 2007-built Sima Sadaf.

MPC Container Ships expects to take over the vessels in the first half of 2018, lifting the total fleet of the company to 64 feeder units.
