AET Adds Four Newly Built Tankers

Petroleum and chemical tanker owner AET Tankers has named and added four newly built tankers, as part of the company’s fleet renewal efforts.

The tankers were handed over from two separate South Korean shipyards this week.

On January 24, AET named two 113,400 dwt Aframaxes Eagle Barcelona and Eagle Brisbane at Samsung Heavy Industries, Geoje.

The other 157,512 dwt Suezmax twins, Eagle San Francisco and Eagle San Jose, were named and handed over on January 26 at the Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in Ulsan.

AET Tankers said that all four vessels will join its fleet as part of an ongoing fleet rejuvenation program and take up charter agreements with undisclosed oil companies.

“The four new ships to join AET will replace older tonnage and provide more flexibility for our customers,” Rajalingam Subramaniam, AET President & CEO, said.

The new ships feature eco-friendly and energy efficient technology. The vessels are fully compliant with incoming regulations, including ballast water management, sulphur emission control and the requirement for carbon monitoring, reporting and verification, AET Tankers informed.

In addition to these, the company will take delivery of two LNG dual-fuel Aframax tankers later this year and two LNG duel-fuel DPII shuttle tankers in 2019.
