Costa Rican Officials Find Cocaine Attached to Boxship

Costa Rican Drug Control Police (PCD) seized 47 kilos of cocaine from the 2007-built containership Cap Palmerston that arrived in the country on January 13.

The officials located the illicit cargo following an underwater search. The divers discovered the drugs in a compartment which was attached to the hull of the containership.

Neither the crew nor the 28,186 dwt vessel were seized as the officials informed that no evidence of their involvement to this incident was found.

Cap Palmerston, which arrived to Caldera, Puntarenas from Buenaventura, Colombia, continued its journey according to schedule on January 14.

The ship is currently sailing to the US port of Long Beach, where it is expected to arrive on January 24, AIS data provided by Marine Traffic shows.
