Italy-based classification society Rina Services has awarded certifications regarding the management system and the quality of the information security to compatriot shipbuilder Fincantieri.
The certifications include the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 and ISO 9001:2015 and Fincantieri is said to be among the first shipbuilding companies to receive them.
In particular, the ISO27001 certification process verified the adequacy of the company processes in the information and communications technology (ICT) field compliant with the requirements of the international reference standard for the management of information security.
The positive outcome of the verification also represents an important step towards meeting the new European Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which becomes enforcable from May 2018, as explained by Fincantieri.
“The result achieved by Fincantieri confirms the increasingly widespread need to support production processes, technologies and the expertise of companies with tools that protect corporate information,” Michele Francioni, CEO of RINA Services, commented.
