Higher Charter Rate for Diana’s Capesize

Greece-based dry bulk vessel owner Diana Shipping has entered into a time charter contract with Hong Kong’s EGPN Bulk Carrier for one of its Capesize dry bulk vessels, the M/V Boston.

As informed, the gross charter rate is USD 17,000 per day for a period of minimum sixteen to maximum nineteen months and the charter commenced on December 6.

The employment is anticipated to generate approximately USD 8.16 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charter, Diana Shipping said.

The 177,828 dwt Boston was previously chartered to Clearlake Shipping from Singapore at a gross charter rate of USD 13,000 per day from August 2015 to this December.

Built at Chinese shipyard Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding in 2007, Boston has a market value of USD 20.52 million, VesselsValue’s data shows.

Diana Shipping’s fleet currently comprises 50 dry bulk vessels. As of today, the combined carrying capacity of the company’s fleet is approximately 5.8 million dwt with a weighted average age of 8.29 years.
