Spotted: Cruise Ship Duo Checks In at DP World Limassol

Mein Schiff 1 berthed at DP World Limassol

As the autumn cruise season already kicked off at the DP World Limassol, two cruise ships called at the terminal on the same day, September 27.

Mein Schiff 1, owned by German cruise line TUI Cruises, berthed overnight at the terminal.

The 76,522 gross ton vessel features a length of 263.9 meters and a width of 32.2 meters. Mein Schiff 1 can accommodate more than 2,600 passengers and 909 crew. Previously known as Celebrity Galaxy, the Century-class ship was once part of Celebrity Cruises’ fleet.

The second vessel, the 24,344 gross ton Braemar, berthed during the day. The 195-meter-long ship is currently operated by Norway-based Fred Olsen Cruise Lines. Built at Union Naval shipyard in 1993, Braemar can accommodate 929 passengers and 371 crew.

“Limassol consistently ranks as a top destination for visitors and cruise lines see DP World Limassol as an attractive call on their itineraries. This year Cyprus has seen a 10 per cent growth in tourists compared to 2016,” Charles Meaby, General Manager, DP World Limassol, said.
