Greek shipping company Diana Containerships has entered into a time charter contract with Danish container shipping giant Maersk Line for one of its Post-Panamax vessels, Puelo, and agreed to extend the present time charter contract with French container carrier CMA CGM for one of its Panamaxes, Centaurus.

The charter for Puelo, planned for a period of minimum eight to maximum eighteen months, is expected to commence on August 2, 2017.

As informed, the gross charter rate is USD 10,600 per day for the first eight months of the charter period and USD 12,000 per day for the balance period of the time charter.

The 6,541 TEU Puelo, constructed at Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in 2006, previously worked for Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), Maersk Line’s partner in 2M Alliance, according to the company’s data.

What is more, the charter for Centaurus will be extended for a period of minimum eight to maximum twelve months, with the gross charter rate being USD 7,950 per day.

The new charter period for the 3,426 TEU Centaurus, which was built at Nordseewerke Emden shipyard in 2010, is to commence on August 23, 2017.

The employment of Puelo and the employment extension of Centaurus are anticipated to generate approximately USD 4.45 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charters, Diana Containerships said in a statement.

Diana Containerships’s fleet currently comprises eleven boxships, including six Post-Panamax and five Panamaxes.
