A 44-year-old man was medevaced from the chemical tanker Argent Eyebright some 120 miles southeast of Galveston on June 18, according to the United States Coast Guard.

In the early morning hours the ship’s agent of the 2009-built tanker contacted Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders to report that the crewmember was experiencing stroke-like symptoms and was in need of medical assistance.

A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew arrived on scene and hoisted the man off the 33,600 dwt tanker.

The man was taken to University of Texas Medical Medical Branch in Galveston. He was reported to be in stable condition.

Argent Eyebright, operated by Singapore-based MOL Chemical Tankers, was on its way from the port of Aratu, Brazil at the time. According to AIS data from MarineTraffic, the vessel is currently stopped at the Houston anchorage.
