Bermuda-based shipping company Teekay Corporation welcomed another Suezmax tanker, the London Spirit, to its fleet on August 9, 2016.

Teekay said it took over the technical management of the London Spirit at the Gibraltar Anchorage and the vessel will be added to “Centaurus” team.

The 158,650 dwt vessel is part of the acquisition of 12 Suezmax tankers from US-based Principal Maritime, announced in August last year. The tankers were bought for USD 662 million.

Built in 2011 by South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), the vessel features a length of 274.4 meters and a width of 48 meters.

As of August 26, 2016, Teekay Tankers owns a fleet of 45 vessels, including product tankers, Aframaxes, Suezmaxes and VLCC tankers.

Including the London Spirit, the company’s Suezmax fleet currently consists of 22 vessels.
