Norwegian RoRo shipping company Höegh Autoliners concluded sea trials on its fifth Pure Car Truck Carrier (PCTC) in the New Horizon class series on August 9 in Xiamen, China.
New Horizon hull 462E is part of a series of six Post-Panamax vessels that Höegh Autoliners will take delivery of within this year.
The company will name the vessel on August 24 at the Chinese shipbuilder Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co. Ltd.
Featuring a length of 199.9 meters and a width of 36.5 meters, the 20,766 dwt ship has a gross tonnage of 77,000 Mt.
It can carry 8,500 car equivalent units and has the flexibility to carry also high and heavy project cargo.
Featuring a deck area of 71,400 m², the New Horizon design vessels are the world’s largest PCTCs by capacity, according to the company.
The fourth vessel from the series Höegh Trapper was delivered to its owner at the beginning of June and subsequently started a 12-year “hell and high water” bareboat charter with Höegh Autoliners.
After its maiden voyage from East Asia to Europe in June, Höegh Trapper started operating from Europe back to East Asia via Africa and Oceania.
