Some 375 gallons of oily water mixture and 250 bags of soiled sorbents were collected by Friday following a crude oil spill near Lake Grande Ecaille, Louisiana, according to the United States Coast Guard.

The USCG and other agencies continued the oil spill clean-up operations in the area, while the oil spill response organization Environmental Safety and Health deployed 3,000 feet of hard containment boom to prevent the spread of the spill.

“Aircrews from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans and Hilcorp Energy will continue to conduct over-flights to monitor oil recovery operations,” USCG earlier said.

It was estimated that some 4,200 gallons of crude oil were released from an abandoned flow line, which belongs to Hilcorp Energy.

The source of the discharge was reported as secured on July 25.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
