A multipurpose vessel named Isaac Newton, designed for a range of specific marine tasks and built by Croatian Uljanik shipyard, was delivered to its owner, a Luxembourg-based dredging company Sofidra, a part of the Jan De Nul Group.

This vessel features a length of 138 m and a width of 32 m. The 13,436 dwt vessel is equipped for cable laying activities, and subsequent covering of the channels in which the cables are laid.

Isaac Newton may also be used for the transport of cargo on the open deck, or as a working platform for construction tasks, undersea or offshore projects, and for this purpose the ship is equipped with two deck cranes for undersea works.

“While the construction of this ship was an incredibly challenging task, our shipbuilders showed their high-level abilities, experience and flexibility and completed a job which opens new possibilities for future co-operation,” Uljanik said.

The delivery ceremony of yard 507 was held in Uljanik on November 27, 2015.
