Oak Spirit Gets First Taste of Water

Oak Spirit, Teekay’s second LNG MEGI newbuilding, has been launched at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard, South Korea, three months after its keel was laid.

Oak Spirit is the second of nine LNG newbuilding vessels DSME is building for Teekay, all powered by M-type, Electronically Controlled, Gas Injection (MEGI) twin engines.

Teekay’s first LNG MEGI carrier, Creole Spirit, was floated out at DSME shipyard on June 9.

All of the nine newbuildings are scheduled to be delivered throughout 2016, and are on charter contracts with Cheniere.
