Update: Bourbon’s Kidnapped Crew Freed

The three crew members of Nigerian nationality who had been kidnapped off the coast of Nigeria in April have been released, French vessel operator Bourbon confirmed.

The company’s crew boat, the Surfer 1440, was boarded off the Nigerian coast in the night of the 8th of April 2015.

They are in good health and arrived at Port Harcourt on May 8, 2015. This news comes as a great relief to all Bourbon employees as a whole, who share the joy of the families,” the company said in a statement on Monday.

The French offshore contractor did not want to disclose further details on the terms of the crew’s release.

Bourbon’s Surfers are speedboats used to transport personnel and light parcels to and from offshore oil and gas sites. The company has around 250 surfers in its fleet.
