Gdansk Port Wraps Up Cruise Season

Gdansk Port Wraps Up Cruise Season

The arrival of m/s Astor on Saturday, October 4, 2014, marked the end of this year’s cruise season in the Port of Gdansk, Poland. From its beginning on May 11, 38 cruiseliners visited the Port of Gdansk, bringing 14,974 cruise passengers.

Although the largest of them was the 205 metres long Albatros, it was the Prinsendam that in August brought the largest number of tourists - as many as 810. The majority of the vessels (32 calls) docked at the waterfront of the Westerplatte Quay, and six others - at the WOC I Quay in the Wladyslawa IV Basin.

The Port of Gdansk for many years has cooperated with more than a dozen carrier companies operating their cruise ships in the Baltic Sea. The most active of them in bringing their cruiseliners to Gdansk included: Seabourn and Silversea from the Bahamas and Phoenix Reisen from Germany.

The agreement concluded between MAG and Baltic Gateway provided the grounds for the most important event in the Port of Gdansk during the past cruise season. Twice - in July and in August - Club Med 2 made a major passengers turnaround of cruisers completing and starting their voyage in the Port of Gdansk.
