VIDEO: How to Boost Efficiency of Ship’s Engine?

This video shows how Siemens propulsion systems and automation solutions for achieving energy efficiency on the high seas work.


Forty of the world’s largest container ships are quipped with this new type of waste-heat recovery system that boosts the efficiency of their engines by as much as 12 percent.

Another issue of growing importance for international shipping companies is the provision of on-shore power.

To address this challenge, Siemens is executing a pioneering project. At the Port of Hamburg, it’s installing Europe’s first on-shore power connection for cruise ships.
