VIDEO: CMA CGM Ship as Gigantic Work of Art

CMA CGM Ship as Gigantic Work of Art

CMA CGM MAGELLAN, a 365-meter long UK container ship has been transformed into a gigantic work of art by a world-renowned artist, JR.

After working on the collage of 151 containers, these were used as pixels, and once loaded on the CMA CGM MAGELLAN, became an amazing work of art.

For this project, the picture that was assembled on the CMA CGM MAGELLAN is the eyes of Elizabeth, a Kenyan woman living in the Kibera slums, in Nairobi. She is one of the key persons in her community.

The video below shows the transformation of the container ship into a peace of art.

Departing from Port of Le Havre, the ship has sailed and has taken the Elizabeth’s eyes on the Mediterranean sea, it will then pass the Suez Canal and head on to Asia.
