3 Cruisers Access Busan Port Simultaneously

Busan Port Authority (BPA) stated that three cruise vessels have recently entered Busan Port. It is the first time for three cruise ship to enter Busan Port at the same time since the port’s opening.

The three cruise ship are Costa Victoria, Voyager of the Seas, and Sapphire Princess. Costa Victoria left Incheon on May 27, and it has around 1,000 Korean tourists.

Voyager of the Seas is the largest cruise ship sailing in the Asian regions. The ship is 138 thousand ton in gross tonnage, 311 meters in length, and has capacity of 3,100 passengers. Voyager of the Seas will leave Shanghai China carrying Chinese tourists.

Lastly, Sapphire Princess is a luxurious cruise ship owned by Princess Cruises of Carnival Group. It will leave Shanghai China carrying Chinese passengers.

These cruise vessels have berthed at the current Dongsam-dong cruise pier (1 vessel), and Gamman container pier (2 vessels).

BPA has provided safety guards and shuttle buses at the terminal for safe berth and passengers’ convenience.

BPA President Lim said: “We will exert ourselves to develop the cruise industry which is known as the industry that produces golden eggs. To attract cruise vessels, BPA reduced 30% of port charges, and we anticipate seeing 125 cruise calls with 0.25million passengers in 2014. In this regard, BPA will make sure that all passengers feel safe visiting Busan.”
