Hyundai Mipo Adds Ten Product Carriers

South Korea’s Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) has been awarded a $330.5 million contract to build ten product carriers for a Marshall Islands-based shipper.

The deal, announced yesterday on the Korea Exchange, didn’t reveal many details on the vessel particulars and delivery dates. But one thing is for sure, steel cutting ceremony for the first vessel is scheduled to take place on May 7th 2014.

Hyundai Mipo, founded in 1975, entered into the newbuilding market in 1996, and has since specialized in the construction of medium-sized vessels of the highest quality. The shipyard was ranked in the world as the leading yard in PC (Product Carrier) segment with the market share of 50%, delivers about 70 new vessels every year.
