Leningrad Government Backs Vyborg's Further Modernization

Russian Vyborg Shipyard JSC and the Leningrad Region Government concluded a contract for provision of state support for investment activity.

The document was signed by the Governor of Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko and General Director of Vyborg Shipyard Alexander Solovyev.

According to the contract, Leningrad Region provides the shipyard with the most-favoured status including essential tax privileges. This measure will allow Vyborg Shipyard to continue successful works on the shipyard modernization.

Modernization of Vyborg Shipyard facilities started in 2009. In the period from 2009 till 2013 the following production sites underwent modernization: steel primary treatment line, blasting and painting chambers, equipment for structures geometry control, a press for bending thick plates with capacity of 1,000 tons along with a press for bending of large-sized profiles, which has been put into operation.

Besides, a floating dock – barge project Р12840 “Atlant” was designed and constructed with a purpose of extending production capacities of the shipyard. In August, the hull assembly works of the prototype icebreaker, pertaining to a series of three vessels under construction for the Baltic region, started on board the barge.

Utility facilities of the shipyard and the main production sites are scheduled to be modernized in the period from 2014 till 2020. It is planned to reconstruct the outfitting quay, the open building berth and some worksites, to build household facilities and to purchase and install high-performance production equipment.
