Karstensen Seals $46m Purser/Trawler Deal

Karstensen Shipyard recently won an order for an 87.8 m Purser / Trawler to be built for the fishing company Ruth Ltd.

The newbuild, bearing the Yard No. 429, is a result of an extensive and close cooperation between owners and the yard. Like the other vessels, currently under construction at the shipyard, the newbuild will be in-house designed.

The vessel will be a top modern pelagic purser / trawler containing all the newest equipment and machinery and among the first to be equipped for Twin Rig Trawling. She will have 3 trawl winches, 4 net drums and 2 fish pump positions at the stern.

MAN common-rail main engine, MAN 8L32/44 CR delivering 4800 kW, will propel the new Ruth at the average speed of 16 knots. Auxiliary engines will be of Cummins type.

The new Ruth, with the price tag of EUR 34 million, is slated for delivery in March 2016.

During last 2 years Karstensen Shipyard has delivered 9 pelagic fishing vessels (Gollenes, Paula, Leinebjørn, Havsnurp, Cattleya, Rogne, Asbjørn Selsbane and Herøyhav). With the new Ruth the order book comprises 6 vessels (of which 5 are pelagic fishing vessels) that will be delivered during the next 2 years.
