CNCo's Two Handysize Bulkers Named

A grand naming ceremony was held at Chengxi Shipyard site, on Oct. 10th, to celebrate the naming of China Navigation’s (CNCo) first two 39,500 DWT bulk carriers. The vessels of Deltamarin’s Bdelta handysize design, were named “Wuchang” and “Wuchow”.

The vessels are designed to carry bulk cargoes, grain, coal, concentrates, logs, heavy general cargo, steel coils, steel slabs and a wide variety of heavy project cargoes. The tanktops are specifically strengthened for heavy cargoes and all holds have double skin hydraulic folding hatch covers and forced draft fans for cargo care.

The service speed of the vessels, scheduled for delivery in 2014, at design draught will be 14.0 knots with the daily fuel oil consumption at design draft of 18t including 15 % sea-margin, ISO conditions.

In total, CNCo ordered a series of sixteen 39,500 dwt bulk carriers from Chengxi, China.
