TUI Cruises Announces New Ship Godmother

Helene Fischer, a German singer and entertainer, will be the godmother of TUI Cruises’ eco-friendly ship Mein Schiff 3.

The announcement came from TUI Cruises’ CEO, Richard Vogel, at the International Tourism Exchange in Berlin that took place a few days ago.

The naming ceremony for this state-of-the-art cruise ship is scheduled for June 12, 2014.

Mein Shiff 3 and her sister ship Mein Shiff 4, being built at the STX Turku Shipyard, are sophisticated and highly innovative GT 99,000 cruise ships. Once completed, these cruise ships will be approx. 295 metres long and approx. 36 metres wide. They will each have 1,253 staterooms (2,500 lower beds) and a crew of 1,000. The ships will have many environmentally-friendly features.

Mein Schiff 3 is scheduled for delivery in spring 2014. Her sister ship, Mein Schiff 4, is currently under production and she will be delivered one year after Mein Schiff 3.
