OPDR Maroc Appoints New Managing Director

Michael Duhamel took over the responsibility as Managing Director of the newly established company OPDR Maroc from Till Ole Barrelet, Chief Executive Officer of the OPDR Group, who held the position on an interim basis. Having started on 3rd February 2014, Michael Duhamel strives to further increase the presence of the Short Sea Shipping and Logistics Company within Morocco and the Maghreb region.

At the beginning of this year, the Short Sea Shipping and Logistics Company OPDR, which is a member of the Schulte Group, launched its first own Moroccan company named “OPDR Maroc” in Casablanca. “It is the first time in 120 years of business relations with Morocco that OPDR sets up its own network in Morocco. I am excited that I will be the one who builds up OPDR Maroc from scratch”, says Michael Duhamel, Managing Director of OPDR Maroc.I would like to establish the office in Casablanca as a regional office for the whole Maghreb region and will put a focus on OPDR’s door-to-door services. As member of the Schulte Group, I also see business opportunities in shipmanagement services for vessels calling the ports of the Maghreb states.

OPDR offers up to three regular sailings per week to and from Morocco. A weekly direct service connects the Northern European ports of Hamburg, Tilbury, Rotterdam and Antwerp with Casablanca and vice-versa with the shortest transit time available in the market. A second OPDR service provides an additional direct link between Hamburg, Rotterdam Tilbury and Casablanca via the Canary Islands as well as between Casablanca and various ports of the Iberian Peninsula. Fast connections between Morocco and Portugal and the Scandinavian-Baltic region also form part of the OPDR trade pattern. 40’ Pallet-Wide High Cube and 40’ High Cube Reefer containers are available on all trades.

The French-born Michael Duhamel has been working in the shipping industry for over 15 years and has an excellent track record. He joins OPDR having previously worked in several management positions in Spain, Morocco, Nigeria, Cameroon and Ivory Coast.
