Driven by rising oil prices, Asia’s major economies are building or planning to build more LNG terminals to diversify their energy supply and increase their energy security. With China, Indonesia, India and other major governments investing multibillions into the LNG terminals on-shore and offshore, massive opportunities are set to boost various areas of engineering, construction and system technologies. Indonesia, the state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina plans to spend $1.15 billion to build a FSRU in Central Java and a pipeline linking East Java-Central Java and West Java. It also plans to set aside $400 million to jointly build several mini LNG receiving terminals in eastern Indonesia along with PLN.
