South Korea: DSME Divides Allseas Pieter Schelte into Two

Hull No. 3401, Allseas Pieter Schelte platform decommissioning and pipe laying vessel, float division was finished on 11th May. With a total building sum of over 1.3 billion Euros (approx $1.7 Bln) it is the biggest project ever constructed at DSME’s Okpo shipyard.

Division work ended one month after the first cutting work which began on 26th April. The division work was planned in order to increase the ship’s width by 6.75m. After increasing the width, it will be possible for this vessel to lift most of the platforms installed around the world.

DSME won the Allseas project in 2010 and it will be the world’s biggest platform decommissioning and pipe laying vessel. When finished, the vessel will be 328m long, 117m wide, and 30m high.
